Charity Team Challenge Event

The 4th Annual Media Day & Charity Team Challenge Event is scheduled to take place on Sunday May 31st from 11:00am till 4:00pm at the Leicester Community Field, Leicester, MA. (Event will be open to all teams, players, coaches, media outlets and the general public).

The Mass Fury and the E.F.L. have teamed up to bring you the 4th Annual Charity Team Challenge Event. It is scheduled to take place on Sunday May 31st from 11:00am till 4:00pm at the Leicester Community Field, Leicester, MA. This event will be the public’s first look at some of the new talent that the E.F.L. will bring to the table this season. The media and public will have the opportunity to meet and greet the team owners and players, while the players get their shot at competing one-on-one against their peers.

The Team Challenge segment will consist of 10 events. Players will compete in a series of events such as the 40 yard dash, bench press, obstacle course and in the Main Event, the 5-man Team Tug-O-War. Each team will have the opportunity to enter players into the events in hopes of taking home the individual titles and bragging rights for the season. Awards will include the E.F.L. Fastest Man, E.F.L. Quickest Man and E.F.L. Strongest Man to name a few.

Along with those bragging rights, players will be able to leave with a great sense of accomplishment as each player will be donating their entry fees from the events to help raise money for charity. The entry fee for players is $5 per player/per event and all those proceeds will be donated to the Hartz Foundation. The Hartz foundation was established in the name of David Hartz Jr., brother of Dan Hartz of the Mass Fury, who passed away shortly after high school and much too young. Every year these funds go to grant two graduating senior football players from Leicester High School a scholarship to attend college in the name of David Hartz Jr. The league, the teams and the players of the E.F.L. take great pride knowing that their efforts on and off the field will make a difference in the lives of others and this year will be no exception.

Event Descriptions:

40 Yard Dash:Each player will get 2 attempts at this event. Players each start with all limbs behind the start line. The ref will start the clock on the player’s movement and stop clock once players check crosses the 40 yard finish line.

5-10-5 Shuttle: Each player will get 2 attempts at this event. There will be 3 cones each placed 5 yards from the other. Ref will start time on player’s movement and finish when chest crosses the finish line. Players hand must start on the ground and touch down at each cone before proceeding to the next cone to avoid DQ.

Bench Press: Each player will get 1 attempt on the bench. Each player will try for as many reps as possible with a weight of 225 lbs on the rack. The weight must touch chest and lock out at top to be counted as 1 rep. The player with the most reps wins the event.

QB Long Bomb: (QB ONLY)

Each QB will get 3 attempts. There will be a start line that the QB must stay behind while throwing.

QB Accuracy: (QB ONLY)

Each QB will get 1 attempt though this passing course. Each QB and 1 WR of his choice will compete in this event together. There will be 6 target areas to score from and the QB will get 5 attempts at each of the 6 locations. To score points for each throw, WR must keep both feet in the target area while having both hands touch each pass, (does not need to be catch the pass). This will be a timed event. There will be a 30 second clock. For each second under 30, 1 point will be added to final score. For each second over 30, 1 point will be subtracted. Top score wins event.

WR Hands Drill: (WR ONLY)

WR will stand in the center of a 30 yard circle. There will be 4 QB on the outside of the circle, each 90 degrees from the other. There will also be 4 spotters sitting at the feet of the WR. WR will catch the balls and then hand the balls to the spotters, who then throw footballs back to the QB’s. QB’s with throw the balls to the WR from outside of the circle. After each catch, the WR will then turn clockwise 90 degrees to the next QB to catch his pass. So after each catch WR again drops ball to spotter and turns to next QB. Each WR will get 30 seconds to catch as many passes as possible. The goal should be about 30 catches in 30 seconds. So it should all happen pretty quickly.

Obstacle Course: each player will get one attempt through the course. Course will consist of 5 continuous segments. Segment 1 is a 20 yard sprint, segment 2 players will pick up 2 car tires and sprint another 20 yards, segment 3 the player will continue to carry tires through a zig-zag cone set-up, segment 4 the player will drop the tires and bear crawl 10 yards and the final segment is a 10 yard sprint through the finish line.

The course is much more difficult than it sounds and is something everyone should try once.

Tug-o-War: this is a 5 man team event. Each team of 5 competes against the others in a single elimination bracket style event. (This is the day’s main event).

Flag Game: this will be an 8-v-8 style game. Each 8 man team will carry 20 players. 10 for O and 10 for D. Teams will be a mix and match of all NEFL teams in attendance. Because there is only a total of 40 open spots for this event, participation is very limited. We will try and make sure that each NEFL Team that is in attendance gets at least 1 player on one of the 2 flag teams. If there are extra spots after each team gets there option to join, we will open up the sign ups to all players.
